Audio: Maya Vik "Forever Yours" (Masons cover)

After releasing more than two albums worth of critically acclaimed material within two years, award-winning artist Maya Vik returns with new funky-electro pop melodies. Prior to her SXSW and NYC shows, the OSL records signee released her throwback banger “Totally Right,” a melody infused with sophisticated 80s funk synths and 90s house music sequence. Now, the Norwegian songstress revisits the sounds of yesteryear with her upbeat rendition of the Mason’s 1987 classic slow jam “Forever Yours.”

The electronic pop textures are surged with extra-metrical beat syllables and R&B undertones that spawn a vitalizing multi-layered production. Maya’s soprano vibratos hover flawlessly around the synthesized drum timbres, creating an atmospheric jam of soft-spoken vocals and energizing vibes.
Check out a special note from the singer and partake in the exuberant sounds below:
I’m pretty bad with liking new music, except if it sounds like it’s from the 80s and around this era, I already did a cover of Ready for the World’s song “Oh Sheila,” which is part of my live sets, so again I felt it was natural to go back to this era. The song is a beautiful 80s love song, and it’s a track that I felt was sorta dangerous to touch, but at the same time, I wanted to pay homage to it because it’s such a good song and it deserves some attention. So hope I did it some justice.
