Ahmad Gallab, best known under moniker Sinkane, fertilizes universal abstract soundscapes. In 2012, the Sudanese-born, Brooklyn-based talent released MARS,
a multidimensional conflation encapsulated with syncopated beats,
afro-beat funk, free jazz, and traces of Sudanese Pop. Featured album
cuts molded a soundbox equipped with sounds of astral pop, sanguine
percussion and electronic indie funk. He has also played alongside with
bands such as Yeasayer, Of Montreal, Caribou, Born Ruffians and Eleanor
Friedberger.
This fall, Sinkane will return with his self-produced new album Mean Love,
a full-length collaboration with Greg Lofaro. His first cut “Hold
Tight” is a Sade-esque free funk vamp laid beneath a substratum of
electronic guitar, androgynous vocals, and distant organ chords.
Tune in to the retro-styled mood track below and be on the lookout
for the forthcoming album, set to drop September 2 via DFA records.
