Album Stream: Raury: Indigo Child

Since the inception of his spiritual folk-anthem “The God Whisper,” Raury has implanted a new type of musical rawness into the blogoshperes. His artistic vigor and musical versatility inhibits definite categorization and genre labeling. The track embodied folk-infectious guitar riffs with gospel imprints and revolutionary vocal declarations. His follow-up duet cut “Sunshine,” created ethereal harmonies with slight doses of spoken word lyricism while “Cigarette Song” sculpted a galvanizing sound-bed of acoustic strings and delicate croons of life and love — All catching the attention of Kid Cudi and Kanye West.
Now the 18-year old East Atlanta crooner has officially released his highly-anticipated debut project, Indigo Child. The effort is an alluring blueprint of genre-blending sounds planted in themes of youthful revolt, personal revelation, teenage revolution, and revitalized social standards. The 13-track featured production is a synthesis of gospel, rap, folk, soul, indie, rock, plus interludes of real-life recorded arguments between Raury and his mother.
Indigo Child can be downloaded for free from Raury’s website, after playing an accompanying game and beating a certain score. The project is also available for download from Audiomack. Stream below.

VOICE SERIES: DEVIN PAPILLION

It takes courage to begin.
It takes audacity to use your voice.
It takes boldness to make impassioned noise.....unapologetically.

Introducing my Dear Friend Devin,
her voice.
her passion.
& the birth of her new blog:

SPEAK!!!!!
"I finally got the courage and inspiration to share. Writing has always been a way for me to really release, in a sort of cathartic fashion. I've been wanting to start blogging for a while now but I kept letting the fact that I felt like I was so behind on social media keep me from starting.
If you choose to follow, this will be a blog discussing issues, culture, philosophy, music, art and a slew of other topics that we as a people all deal with, struggle with or experience at one point or another.

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT: "Hip-Hop Makes Me Human."
"This first particular post has been finished and sitting for a while; ever since I found out that Q-tip has stated that he is doing some collaborative work with Jonah Hill & Leonardo Dicaprio in efforts to create a drama series that will document the movement of the Native Tongues throughout the early '90s" -

VISUALS: BJ THE CHICAGO KID "PERFECT"

BJ The Chicago Kid unveils the music video for slow-tempo R&B-soul groove “Perfect.” The revamped version of  Fabolous and Jeremih’s “Thim Slick” is an ode to women who defy the standards of mainstream beauty. Shots of models in high fashion magazine’s juxtapose the video’s leading lady and her process of getting dressed, despite the possible insecurities women may face when dealing with body image. BJ reminds women that perfection has no set standards; Peep the visual above.
