Swedish songstress Mapei sent blogospheres into a craze with her indie cut, “Don’t Wait.”
Her genre-blending concoction was a wondrous fusion of funk drums,
Pharrell samples, acoustic guitar and nostalgic vibes of 90s’ R&B
vocals that she describes as “21st century gospel or doo wop.” The
single track also received official retooled production by Benny Blanco,
Kingdom and Chance the Rapper.
Now the singer paradoxes her soul-pop melody mix on her new
motivational pop anthem “Change,” produced by Mangus Lidehall. The track
is stratified behind self-assuring lyricism, percussion beaters, and
echoed piano tints with electronic pigmentation.
Mapei’s full-length debut, Hey Hey, is set to release Aug 23 on Downtown Records. Stream the arena-pop anthem below.
